Delta Electrical – Mt Piper Power Station

Lithgow–New South Wales

Product – Fly Ash

Requirements:

Delta Electricity approached Aerobelt to design and supply Aerobelt conveyors to replace the aging and unreliable enclosed belt conveyors used on site.

Low maintenance costs and reduced power demand were key reasons the Aerobelt conveyors were selected for the project.

The conveyors had to:

  • Provide a Fly Ash discharge rate of up to400 tph / 11,351 US bu
  • Thenewconveyorhadtofitinsidemost of the existingconveyorgalleries

Solution:

Aerobelt selected a 2.3’ wide belt system that could be assembled in the galleries while preserving existing gallery walkways. The existing support steelwork was modified to suit the new conveyors or new steelwork was provided if the conveyor routedid not utilize the existing galleries.

Aerobelt were given the order to remove all the existing equipment and install the three new conveyors including all the electrical, civil and mechanical installation works. This included the dry and wet commissioning.

Aerobelt were also awarded the contract to maintain the equipment. For a period of two years after installation. During this time the Aerobelt ‘maintenance expenditure was only five percent of the amount spent on the previous system over an equivalent period
