Requirements:
Ambos stock feeds needed the ability to process animal feed in a new packing facility they had built but was around 328 feet away from the manufacturing plant on site. The new conveyor was required to:
- Link the two facilities together and be used to load the new packing system inside the new building.
- The conveyor and supporting steelwork design was required to provide a low capital cost for the conveying system to join the two plants.
Solution:
The transfer conveyor from the old building to the new building was elevated at around 52.5 feet from the ground and was supported by steel work and cables holding up the conveyor.
This reduced the number of trestles required to support the conveyor and the cables enabled longers pans to be used between supports.
This reduced the capital costs as fewer trestles were used, thus saving on steel and civil works required to support them.
